effective method to brighten the smile. Bleaching uses a strong
oxidizing agent to lighten the teeth.
The procedure is technique sensitive
and may be done in the operatory by the dentist (office bleach)
or at home by the patient (home bleach system). The teeth have to be
isolated and the bleaching agent is applied and exposed to light. The
bleaching time depends on the amount of whitening desired, which can be
seen by using the shade card. The deep yellow and brown stains can be
considerably reduced. The procedure is safe and painless, but it is not
advisable for children. Maintenance and compliance is very important
post bleaching .
